Search Contracts

General Information

What is a Contract?

A contract is an agreement for the procurement of goods and/or services under which an agency is obliged to make payment of public money to a supplier. Agencies are required to notify in the Commonwealth Purchasing and Disposals Gazette (ie this website combined with the Government Advertising website www.ads.gov.au form the Gazette):

a. Agency agreements (that is, agreements for the procurement of goods and services under which an agency is obliged, or may become obliged, to make a payment of public money to another agency); and

b. Commonwealth contracts) (that is, agreements for the procurement of goods and/or services under which the Commonwealth is obliged, or may become obliged, to make payment of public money).

NB: These include any purchase order, oral or written contract or lease or corporate credit card transaction. On these pages, agency agreements and Commonwealth contracts are referred to jointly as ‘Contracts’.

You can choose to either conduct a search by Contract Date or by Gazette Date, ie the date on which a contract is reported on the Gazette Publishing System. Whatever choice you make, the fields are mandatory. By adding additional information into the other fields you will be able to refine your search.

When searching by Contract Date or Gazette Date, the date range cannot exceed 12 months. To search for longer periods, you need to conduct additional searches by 3-month periods. You can download each search result and aggregate the information into one spreadsheet or database for interrogation.

If you experience any difficulties when using the search functionality please contact your Agency System Administrator (refer to The Gazettal Reporting Requirements Handbook: Government Procurement).
